How I Edit My Instagram Photos + The Best Free Editing Apps

Not getting as many likes?

The good ol' "go on, do it for the gram!" trick just doesn't quite seem to nudge the adequate amount of motivation out of you?

Or quite frankly. You just want to create top quality content.

Find yourself in one of these categories? Well, all three of them have one solution...

So, fancy an exclusive sneak peak into how I edit my Insta pictures PLUS the best FREE editing apps roaming the streets of the App Store?

Here's the rundown.

Oh wait, hold up. How did I forget to use this opportunity to plug my Insta?

Here it is - My Instagram (Sorry...I couldn't help myself haha).

Okay, here's the rundown. Actually.

SNAPSEED - Kickin' it off with a good'n. Honestly... I really don't even know how I managed to gain a single follower without this guy - It's amazing!

The Best Features:

Selective: I may have gone a little over board in my examples but selective allows you to focus on a particular area of a photo (however big or small) and adjust the brightness, saturation, contrast or structure.

White Balance: Because we're not all into the Oompa Loompa look...

Facetune2-  I have been absolutely LIVING for this app the past few weeks - and not for the purposes you may think! Although this app gets most of its recognition for giving selfies a "your face but better" kinda vibe, it's also been the epitome of what I needed for a colourful and summery feed.

This is thanks to the 'paint' feature, enabling you to select from an array of colours and change the colour of a particular part of your photo.

Here's an example:

Focus: Ahh. Focusing. I have a strong penchant for this one - it can really add so much more to a photo.
Fotor is the perfect app for focusing/ defocusing; it has multiple focus strengths and shapes.

The photo I used for the example, however,  isn't the best representation of this things capability (to say the least) - the before definitely looks better!

So, there we have it! Those are the main things I do to edit my photos! Sorry for not posting last week, I was away in rain ol' Ireland which was actually pretty warm which was a nice change :) I'm going away agin in 3 days so I'll try to write up a couple of posts in advance!

Thank you all for reading!

  1. So interesting to see how you edit your photos! I love Facetune, for editing blog photos haha! The whitening feature is my favourite, but I've not looked into the others xx

  3. I go through phases of spending so much time on Instagram and then disappearing from it for ages...currently doing a disappearing act. But..this post is so handy, I cant believe the colour of the bath water before the edit to make it pink like what!!
